Cyberjaya Lake Gardens

Cyberjaya Lake Gardens or Taman Tasik Cyberjaya is an urban wildlife sanctuary carefully preserved by Sepang Municipal Council. The free entrance lake gardens has a huge natural lake surrounded by a jogging/walking track amidst lush tropical green forest wetlands. A popular place for outdoor lovers, picnickers and family get-togethers.

Part of the track is elevated over water and wetlands and chances are you may find iguanas, migratory and local birds, monkeys and squirrels as you walk and enjoy the close to nature atmosphere and surroundings. A lookout tower is situated at one end and you could also cycle round the park as on weekends there are people there to hire bicycles.

Public toilets are available for 30cents per entry that is well kept and clean. 200 open-air free parking space is also available. Best time to visit is in the mornings for that unadultered crisp and clear air.

Mah Meri Cultural Village

Known as the village of the Mask Man of Malaysia. An up-close personal experience with the Mah Meri indigenous tribe, they are 1 of the 19 indigenous tribes in Peninsular Malaysia. Widely regarded as some of the best mask makers in the world. On Pulau Carey island, 40km southwest of Kuala Lumpur (reachable by road), this Orang Asli village is well worth a visit to learn about the distinct culture and traditions of the Mah Meri, a subgroup of the Senoi people who live along the coast of Selangor.

Drop by the village museum for excellent displays of Mah Meri art, with accompanying texts explaining the mythologies and local legends. You can order wood carvings at the village centre, or pick up less expensive, but still wonderfully pretty, woven baskets and mats made from pandanus leaves, or palm-leaf origami. You can also rent bikes to explore the rest of the island. The Mah Meri Cultural Village is well signposted. If you’re in a group, browse the website for packages that include food, handicraft demonstrations (carving mangrove timber and origami) and perhaps hands-on lessons.

River Cruise at Sungai Besar Sepang

The water may not be crystal clear, but that does not stop people from having some fun in the sun at Sepang Besar River or Sungai Besar Sepang. The mangrove used to be a popular attraction as trees used to grow abundantly along the coastal fringes and river mouths, but much of the natural vegetation has been lost to development. However, some patches of mangrove swamps are still present.

Hire a river cruise from Rumah Rakit Ewan Sepang Besar and go on a two-hour river cruise which will take you along a scenic route of Sungai Besar Sepang.

You can find several dozen varieties of flora exists inside the jungle boardwalk and can easily identify them with name plates that provide brief description and identification for the plants.

Tanjung Sepat Selangor

Tanjung Sepat is a pleasant, small seaside town with a few attractions and places to eat for a day-trip or weekend stay from KL. The population is predominately Chinese and many of the houses are quaint wooden homes with tin roofs arranged in a grid street pattern.

The best way to reach is by car as there is no public transportation available around the area. Bukit Melati Nilai (Melati Hill)

A good track for beginners hikers and even children. Opt to hike for one or all six peaks if you’re feeling adventurous as peaks are very close to each other. Situated near a housing area, the trails are also appropriately marked with ropes. And the sunrise view is worth catching.
